Middle East Nuclear Weapons Free Zone; Preliminary Discussions

Your Excellencies,

I would like to take this opportunity to reinforce Iran's commitment to peaceful nuclear development, as is our right under the current international regime governing nuclear technology. And furthermore, I would like to gauge the interest of the international community in implementing a nuclear weapons free zone in the Middle East region, to be guaranteed by the United States, Russian Federation, and European Union. On ethical, moral, and rational grounds, Iran firmly rejects the idea of nuclear weapons, which represent a severe and existential threat to humanity. As said in 2008 by Esfandiar Rahim Mashaei, then Vice President and Head of Cultural Heritage Organization of Iran, Iran is not an enemy of any nation, including the United States. We wish to live in accordance with our Islamic principles, and this means in peace with our neighbors and a firm rejection of weapons of mass destruction.

Lying at multiple occassions does not eventually make ones lies become fact.

Records shows clearly that following two additional extensions of the P5+1 negotiations, Iran remained in opposition to meet the requirements of the international community and further stalled progress by changing important persons in the Iranian delegation as they were found too liberal to the regime in Tehran.

Further Iran completely abandoned the framework to further extent negotiations. Now Iran tries to portray the United States as the perpertrator, which it is indeed not.

Allow me, Gentlemen. Iran is on the brink of constructing its first nuclear warhead and will likely aim it at the State of Israel or other enemies of Islamic Radicalism.

It is of course of no surprise that the Zionists dispatch a lowly faceless representative to a discussion of such importance. It truly highlights how little they regard life and peace in the region, as well as international laws and humanitarian principles. According to Zionist propagandists, Iran has been "on the brink" of constructing a nuclear weapon for over ten years, and quite frankly, we are tired of Zionist paranoia and fear-mongering. Perhaps it is their goal to lure us into boredom before launching their first, genocidal nuclear strike from their hidden missile submarines haunting the Persian Gulf. I guarantee you that such a strike will make Iran a nation of martyrs and the retaliation will be swift and complete.

Gentlemen,

It is a shame that a discuss such as this and of such potential as this was simply ignored by various world powers: including the United States. Russia has been watching this conversation for sometime and is also strongly disappointment in the statements made by the State of Israel. The Islamic Republic of Iran came to the table with an agreement in which, for the first time in modern Iranian history since the Islamic Republic was created, included the State of Israel as a legitimate party which is dramatic progress. And what is Israel's response? Insults and negative statements.

Mr. Lavrov,

On the contrary, I fail to see where in the opportunist announcement made by Iran, they include the State of Israel as a “legitimate” party? It is our position that these is merely one of many attempts to derail the debate on Iran’s own program for the production of Weapons of Mass Destruction, which they have threatened to use on the State of Israel. I believe we haven’t seen many events whereas one nations threaten another nation with a nuclear holocaust, at least not in modern time.

I would advise you to review the transcripts of the debate and I believe you would see things differently.

Please inform your boss that by sending you, whatever your name is, to speak with a Foreign Minister of a country which Israel has long hoped to cooperate with is a serious insult. I hope that your bosses are simply unaware of the common practice of having equals speaking to equals because if they are aware and in fact meant to insult me and the Russian government which I represent that would be a very disturbing change in Israeli policy. Israel needs to be aware that we are looking at this as an opportunity and we do not see a nuclear free zone in the Middle East as a "threat" to anyones security.

Mr. Lavrov,

Israel does not intent to insult Russia. I wish to remind you that the Israeli foreign minister has already stated that Israel will not address the matter brought forth here with much attention, similar to many other nations in the region. I have merely been appointed to rebuff Iranian lies and not engage on actual discussions, which may I say, have been limited. Further I must also oppose the notion that Iran somehow addressed State of Israel as a legitimate party, as all I have seen is the "Zionist" remarks.

Finally, while I understand that it is common that equal diplomatic titles to meet during conferences, this is a open diplomatic channel, which has no restrictions on whom attents nor issues statements on a country's behalf as long as they a accredited members of the diplomatic staff of the nation they represent. If we were to follow such procedure I would expect the Iranian Foreign Minister to attent and not his deputy.

Now out of respect to you Mr. Lavrov, I shall refrain from further remarks.
