Telecommunications in Iran; Expanding Broadband Access

The Telecommunication Company of Iran (TCI) is looking for potential partners in expanding the country's broadband infrastructure.

Although the country has one of the fastest growing rates of telecommunications access and the largest internet population in the region, it ranks 14th in average internet speed, with the average speed about a fifth of the global average. Reliable, high-speed internet access is essential to building Iran's civic community, internal development, and productive engagement with the globalized world. By facilitating further interaction with the international community, this project will go a long way in solidifying Iran's position as an emerging developed economy.

I look forward to your responses.

India is a leading power in the fields of broadband and telecommunications. The Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Programme, or ITEC , is a perfect fit for partners to work together with India to achieve exactly what you are wanting here.

ITEC is a global program that is aimed to help other countries estabish technical skills in areas where they desire to grow to help implement new technologies. We have partnered with dozens of countries worldwide and would love the opportunity to work with Iran to develiope and increase your broadband infrastructure.

Mr. Srivastava,

Thank you for expressing your interest. I applaud the courage of the Indian government to dispense with the common paranoia targeting Iran, and instead embrace the opportunities for building a strong, and productive relationship. I would like to work explore the details of a partnership with ITEC. Our goals are simple: bring first-world quality internet access to the people of Iran by increasing market penetration in both urban and rural communities.
