Narendra Modi Prime Minister Republic of India Recently we have received many reports of the dire situation in the Middle east, with ISIS making progress, Lebanese and Israeli tensions rising, ISAF withdrawals from Afghanistan leaving the Taliban in control of much of the territory that has been abandoned by coalition fighters ... the Middle East appears to be a powerkeg ripe for explosion. It is my belief that we need to come together and adopt a unified front to prevent furthr destabilization in the Middle East. |

Mr Ghani, I do not pretend to know every problem the Afghan people have, but one consistant problem that we have seen is a lack of opportuities for the youth to get engaged and thrive in a safe productive community. The Taliban rebukes technological advances and those who are caught using new technology are shunned, or worse. I would whole heartedly welcome Afghanistan to increase trade with India, and can offer scholarships and technical assistance to Afghanistan under our Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Programme. This would help provide technical training and aid to Afghanis who desire technical advances to increase food crops and to provide incentives for farmers to not grow poppi. However I am fearful of reprisals against our citizens if they came to Afghanistan to offer assistance. We do not want to inflame the tensions there or make India a common enemy. We have no desire to deploy forces to Afghanistan which would be seen as invaders. India has no desire to invade Afghanistan, on the contrary we want Afghanistan to become a strong regional partner and join the international community to the extent that its population wants. Therefor I can announce our plan to offer full ride scholarships to Afghan citizens and we might even come to an agreement to send advisors to the Afghan government to help the Afghan people. Given our extended use of small scale renewable power projects, building neighborhoods that power themselves and taking care of new demand for power, we are in a perfect place to help provide Afghanistan renewable, clean power for relatively cheap. Power that can be generate on the mountains, without a need for an expensive national power grid. We are rebuilding Kashmir to take full advantage of these technologies and give nthe mountainous terran I feel these solutions could help improve the life of the Afghani people. India is prepared to offer economic incentives, training, and joint collaberation with the Afghani people to help improve their lives. However we are not willing to deploy large scale military forces to Afghanistan at this time in a unilateral move. The Taliban remains a very real threat in Afghanistan, and I feel that Afghanistan itself can do a better job at combatting them. India is working with other regional powers, like Iran and Tajikistan, to solidify their borders and to contain the Taliban threat to Afghanistan. But that is not enough, we have seen the Taliban resist 2 invasions by 2 separate superpowers. The solution to this conflict is not in military forces, but to improve the lives of the people and provide a deterrant from reprisals from the Taliban. I plan on bringing up the Afghanistan situation up in the next SCO meeting, since Afghanistan is a joint problem for SCO members. It is my hope we can help your government and your people, Mr Ghani, become a thriving nation free of terrorism. Narendra Modi Prime Minister Republic of India |

Ashraf Ghani President of Afghanistan We welcome India's offer and will gladly accept any help you offer. We are trying our best to contain the Taliban, but outside influences are also hindering our efforts. We believe that Pakistan can help in closing the border and stopping the flow of weapons and people other the border. |

Sartaj Aziz - Acting Foreign Minister Islamic Republic of Pakistan Prime Minister Sharif welcomes signs of renewed cooperation from Kabul, and would like to take this opportunity to invite President Ghani or a representative of his government to Islamabad to discuss the issue of border security in greater detail. Pakistan is planning a major initiative aimed at securing the border against narcotics trafficking, to better limit the ability of the insurgency to fund itself, and believes that a coordinated effort with the Afghan military could only serve to increase the efficacy of such action. |
