Frank-Walter Steinmeier Foreign Minister The Russian foreign minsitry sent the following communqpue in response to an offer of dialogue between the US, EU, and Russia regarding tensions;
While Germany supports our American allies as any of the NATO members of this Union will, we also recognize that a US-Russian conflict need not spill over because of the lack of rationality in this situation on both sides to the European economy. Recent information we requested for this month says that a Russian closure of fuel will be devastating until the 2018 opening of the Trans-Adriatic and Nabucco pipelines because we have failed since the Russo-Ukrainian gas dispute to diversify, meaning that we will have hundreds of thousands of households without fuel and a multi-point drop in GDP growth immediately, causing for millions o jobs to be lost and the Eurozone to be downgraded as a whole. We would like to ask if the European Union countries are for or against organizing a conference with Russia to discuss points of de-escalation, especially targeted at preventing economic conflict until 2018. |
