France France has deployed 400 members of the Gendarmerie nationale in Libya, in two camps in Tobruk and Ras Lanuf in order to train the thousends of Libyan police / security forces. The outcome of the war and further stability will relly on Libya guaranteing security in its territory, and that can only be achieved by an efficient police. As such, and with two solid police secure training camps established in the next weeks, I would like to call the EU to deploy a total of 1000 policemen for training purposes, and to some extent cooperate in security with local authorities. Ideally France will halve the mission to 200 gendarmes next year, therefore we would welcome 800 policemen from the rest of the EU members. I cannot emphasize how important this measure is, besides the military support, for Libya to secure its streets without wasting military assets on it. Thank you. |

We laud this operation which may bring peace and stability to a turbulent region without affecting the will of the people, and therefore will contribute 100 special forces, air crews, and 10 tiger helicopters to restoring sanity and order. |

France reopens this topic as it is becoming crucial that besides fighting IS, we need to train Libyan security forces to mantain peace on controlled territory. Can other member states provide as well police forces that will train Libyan police forces? |
