Agreement on R&D and Design Transfer Parties The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and it's shipbuilders BAE Systems Surface Ships, Thales Group, and Babcock International (here on referred to as the UK) agrees to aid and assist The Federative Republic of Brazil, and it's shipbuilder of choice, (here on referred to as Brazil). If the Brazilian shipbuilder by choice is other than Brazilian, the UK retains the right to veto the chosen shipbuilder. R&D The UK and Brazil will work together to design a larger version of the Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carrier. The cost of the R&D will be carried equally. Design The basic Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carrier designs are to form the basis for the enlarged design, and Brazil will be given access to them, to the extent needed, for Brazil to work along side the UK in R&D of the future carrier. Conditions The new design is owned by both nations without limits for production. The future carrier is barred from export unless approved by both nations. Payment Brazil will pay the UK in the sum of US$450 million for the use of the basic Queen Elizabeth design. |
