Frank-Walter Steinmeier Foreign Minister We note with grave concern the expansionism and violation of the territory of Uruguay by Brazil. While the Brazilian army just seized a border town, these actions are unprecedented for countries like Brazil in the last ten years, and this surprise attack on a friendly country is not welcomed when it comes to the stability and free economic movement of the region. Germany strongly condemns this violation and vows that we will push for sanctions, but not if the Brazilians withdraw immediately: in that event, we will strongly oppose repercussions because we do not believe the majority of the Brazilian people or government urged for this decision, and will do everything we can to counter the effects of this move. |

Vice-President of the United States Mr Silva, The United States must express our profound disappointment in your decision to invade and occupy the town of Masoller, Uruguay. I must also join our Canadian and German allies in condemning your illegal invasion. It is my duty to inform you that a failure to withdraw Brazilian forces from Uruguayan territory immediately will result in punitive economic and military sanctions. I will be speaking with the President and Congress tonight to address the matter, and look into the passing of a immediate bill to cancel the recently proposed military cooperation between America and Brazil. Mr Lavrov, The Treaty of Montevideo (1828) also recognized Uruguay as an independent nation. This independence Brazil has violated. By our records Brazil is in violation of Article 8, Article 10, and Article 11 of the Treaty of Montevideo (1828). Brazil is also in violation of Article 8, Article 10, and Article 11 of the Convention on Rights and Duties of States which was ratified on December 26, 1933. |

Marina Silva President of Brazil The Brazilian forces are being instructed to leave the operational area of Masoller effective immediately, following the back lash of the international community. All captured person's will be released effective immediately. Brazil will engage in talks with Uruguay on returns to the status quo. It is clear my military and political advisers were horribly mistaken in their estimates on the reaction to this move. Brazil looks forward to working with the world to return to the status quo. |
