Liu Jieyi | 刘结 Permanent Representative to the United Nations | 常驻联合国 I would like to echo the sentiments of Sir Mark, my government is firmly of the opinion that territorial disputes should be resolved diplomatically and not through the unilateral use of force. I too would like to call for the withdrawal of Brazilian forces and a return to the status quo. |

Rosemary A. DiCarlo United States Ambassador to the United Nations The United States seconds the British call for the United Nations Security Council to draft a resolution condemning the recent Brazilian invasion of Uruguay, and we would like to inform the Council that we have taken it upon ourselves independently of the United Nations to suspend ongoing military cooperation with Brazil. We would like to thank the United Kingdom for taking the lead on this important matter, as well as thank the United Kingdom for also suspending military cooperation, and I would encourage China, France, and Russia to take similar steps to limit military cooperation with Brazil until at the very least this situation is resolved. Sir Mark Lyall Grant, could I ask you as a personal favor to draft the resolution condemning Brazil's actions for the Security Council's consideration? Edited by Vonar Roberts, Jun 6 2015, 05:49 PM.
