President Bayka,

Welcome to the United States and congratulations on your recent election. Turkey has proven once again that democracy prevails, and has proven to be an invaluable ally both with regards to its NATO membership and its commitment to fight the Islamic State in the Middle East. I hope that these discussions will be fruitful and can result in expanded and continued cooperation between the United States and Turkey. Is there any pressing matters that you would like to see added to the agenda at this time?

I would like to begin my formal statements by thanking you, Madam President, for the grace and hospitality you have shown myself and my delegation. Likewise, I would like to thank the American people, and the beautiful city of Boston - it is pleasure to be here, today. I felt it vitally important for my first state visit as President of the Republic to be to one of Turkey's closest friends and partners in international security. My nation has, for decades, looked to the United States as both a leader on the international stage, and as a close partner on the issues of regional and global security.

In fact, this visit purposely corresponds with a visible testament to the US dedication to our region, and Turkish security; a new arms deal which will go towards significantly improving Turkish capacities to wage war against and defend against militant groups like the cult Daesh, and al-Quada. Turkey and the US will continue to work, both bilaterally and through organizations like NATO, to defend the rule of law and Democracy. I hope that during my time here; we will be able to discuss our respective roles in NATO, as well as how we can further increase seamless cooperation and collaboration between Türkiye and the United States of America.

Those important issues aside, perhaps we may even be able to talk about when, in the future, Turkey will be afforded the honor of hosting YOUR excellency, Madam President. *chuckle*
