Protests in Catalonia grow![]() Protests in Catalonia have grown has calls for independence are being refused by the Spanish Government. However, sources are saying that a independence referendum will happen in the next election, which could happen as early as January. There have been more protests because there are talks of the Catalonian Parliament being shut down. In Catalonia, Mariano Rajoy has the highest disapproval of any region in Spain. The last time he's gone there? June 2018. His cabinet's position on spain is different. Some are supportive of a referendum, while others are against it, leaving the PP at its weakest since its days in opposition. The PSOE, which is more popular, is taking a controversial stand. It supports a referendum, but hopes Catalonia votes no. The C's and Podemos are against any referendum, costing them what some consider valuable support in Catalonia. CiU is supportive, and Artur Mas is traveling across Catalonia to speak in favor of a referendum. Rajoy called Mas "dividing. He'll break the union of Spain." _____ This is placing pressure on the Spain, and Europe, and there are genuine concerns about the issue. Edited by Jos1311, Jul 15 2015, 12:53 AM.
