Iraq assures all nations that our government's war effort is strictly defensive, and that we will immediately cease hostilities when Iran declares the end for all calls of revolution in Iraq and the Gulf States

The Iranian government's attack on Kuwaiti and Gulf Arab shipping is an outrage and shows the nations' imperialistic ambitions to form a second Islamist-Persian Empire. All of the peoples of the Middle East must unite in unison to condemn this vicious piracy against a neutral country.

Iraq, too, invites international observers to come find out who launched missiles at Kuwaiti ships. We will take Iran up on their invitation. Any attempt to paint Iraq as the aggressor is ludicrous, since our oil is currently being shipped through Kuwait.

Iraq has achieved a great victory in the evacuation of IRGC military assets from the cities of Abdan and Khorramshahr using creative military methods, aimed to minimize collateral damage. We emphasize these moves were strictly done due to military necessity, as armed presence in these areas could be a staging grounds for an invasion of Iraq.

Evidence from advancing forces in Khuzestan conclusively prove that Iran had plans for the extermination of ethnic Arabs in the region and for ethnic cleansing, and was planning to eliminate the population of Abdan and Khorramshahr before Operation Deluge dislodged IRGC forces from their positions. All displaced and refugees are welcome to find home and shelter in Iraq, where they will be able to freely apply for citizenship.

Recently received intelligence reports report impending assault on seaborne oil fields by Iranian ships in the Persian Gulf and on Umm Qasr naval base, devastating the world oil market. Our government asks the international community for its vigilance and for an international force of intervention against Iranian blockage of the Persian Gulf and attacks on oil shipping.

Iraq severely condemns the use of Chemical Weapons by Iran which has been admitted to by junior Iranian diplomats over diplomatic cables, as well as the absurd allegation that these weapons were used "in retaliation" to Iraqi strikes. We call on the UN to condemn the use of chemical weapons "in general" in the war, as both sides are recognized by some security experts to possess reserves of mustard gas.

Iraq is glad to hear that in the face of our overwhelming force Iran will surrender its massive chemical arsenal or bury it in the sand. It is clear the destabilizing Islamic revolution has lost its nerve in the face of Arab armies, and soon the world will be free of their chaotic influence. We encourage the UN to fulfill Iranian requests to confiscate their own chemical weapons as soon as possible, and we take this as a partial surrender of Iranian forces. Since Iraq has made the demand for the cessation of all such attacks against our forces, the Iranian announcement comes as a total capitulation to our government. Iraq is proud to have freed the world from Iranian chemical weapons using our demands and diplomatic ultimatums.

- Statement on the Betrayal of the PLO and Islamic Causes by the So-called "Islamic Republic"
-
Iraq condemns in severest terms the eviction of the Palestinian national organized resistance from the Tehran embassy which was its righteous property since 1979. This move is a betrayal of all Arab Shia and Muslims as a whole by the Iranian regime, that is using perfidy, and is kowtowing for scraps in a desperate attempt to save itself.
