July 1981 Statement on Attacks on Neutral Shipping in the Persian Gulf The Islamic Republic of Iran decries the recent attacks against neutral shipping in the Persian Gulf. We can confirm with total certainty that these attacks were not ordered by the Iranian Navy, which has focused its efforts against Iraqi shipping and the imposition of a blockade against the Iraqi coast. We condemn the hasty assumptions which have led Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates to accuse Iran of these attacks, and find these to be a reaffirmation of the narrative of Iran as a boogeyman that does all wrong, with complete Iraqi innocence. We will continue to defend our country with the utmost patriotism and vigor until the Arab invader is expelled. Most importantly, we demand that there be an international presence in the Persian Gulf to verify Iranian claims that we are not firing missiles against neutral shipping. It is our belief that this is an extension of the Iraqi war of aggression against Iran, and an attempt to once more smear the Iranian people through false-flag attacks by Iraqi vessels and anti-ship armed aircraft. |

July 1981 Statement on falsehoods endorsed by Saudi Arabia The Islamic Republic of Iran condemns the recent statements by the Saudi Arabian monarchs that Iran is in any way responsible for the destruction of four Kuwaiti oil tankers in the Persian Gulf. We encourage international observers to note that we were the very first state in the Persian Gulf to call for a greater international presence to verify that Iran has only undertaken military activities against Iraq, which has invaded our country and threatened wholesale destruction of our government and the annexation of our territory. It is clear there continues to be a development of an American-endorsed Sunni Arab axis that is hellbent on destroying the Iranian state. We condemn these efforts, and pledge to fight them at every corner with the full strength of the Iranian nation. |

July 1981 Statement on flooding in Abadan and Khorramashahr The Islamic Republic of Iran condemns yet another instance of Iraq breaking international law, as well as any human decency. Having first attacked and bombarded two Iranian cities located on the border with Iraq, both cities have now been flooded at the cost of hundreds of civilian lives. We condemn and deny any claims of a planned invasion of Iraq as yet another fabrication of the Iraqi regime. There can be no evidence of planned invasion because no such invasion was planned. Iran was merely undertaking defensive measures, as it is entitled to, against an aggressor state. We call upon the international community to once more condemn Iraqi crimes against humanity and to sanction the Iraqi regime for its complete disregard of international law. |

July 1981 Statement on false Iraqi Accusations We wholesomely condemn the false claims leveled by the Iraqi regime. We call upon all honest Arabs in the world to condemn the Iraqi regime for the crimes against humanity that it has unleashed upon fellow Arabs in Khuzestan by flooding and destroying the homes of hundreds of thousands of ethnic Arabs, and loyal Iranian patriots. We continue to call upon the international community to condemn Iraqi aggression and war crimes. |

August 1981 Statement on Iraqi use of Weapons of Mass Destruction The Islamic Republic wholesomely condemns the anti-Islamic and cowardly use of weapons of mass destruction by the Iraqi regime. Unable to win with true honor and valor in an unjust war that even its own people recognize as blatant aggression, it has resorted to use its stocks of Western-provided chemical weapons to seek to break the iron will of the Iranian people. Iran is prepared to submit to full United Nations inspection, unilaterally if necessary, to prove it has no chemical weapons and has not had any. Nonetheless we at this stage reserve our full and legal right to retaliate with the use of such weapons if they are obtained under international law which prohibits the first use of such weapons. We call upon the United Nations Security Council to pass an embargo on the sale of weapons and chemicals which are being used by the Iraqi regime to produce and use chemical weapons on the battlefield, and to condemn in no uncertain terms the Iraqi use of chemical weapons against Iran. |

September 1981 Statement on the return of the Israeli Embassy to the State of Israel Given the ongoing struggle against the Sunni Arab onslaught organized by the United States, executed by Iraq, and financed by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, the Iranian government has decided to immediately expel the Palestinian Liberation Organization which was granted the former Israeli embassy in 1979. Our concerns stem from the identification of members of the PLO as agents of the Iraqi and Pakistani regimes, continually seeking to destabilize the Islamic Republic in the face of continued Sunni aggression. |

September 1981 Statement on Pakistani threats of invasion The Islamic Republic of Iran calls for all states to condemn the puppet state of Pakistan, which in its association with the Baghdad and Al Saud regimes has found it fit to threaten Iran with invasion on the basis of fabrications of Iranian treatment of the Baloch people. The Baloch people remain an integral part of the Iranian identity, and it is known to all that they are not associated with the external Sunni attempts to undermine the Islamic Republic which has extended the right to worship as they please according to their faith. |

September 1981 Statement on the Paris Peace Talks Iran condemns Iraqi use of weapons of mass destruction and the scuttling of a negotiated ceasefire settlement which was almost unanimously supported by the United Nations Security Council. Because of the aggressive actions and the continuous aggression and war crimes of the Iraqi regime, Iran views the arrangements made in Paris as formally defunct and places the blame solely on the Iraqi regime which continued combat operations despite both parties agreeing to a ceasefire. We will not ascend to any peace arrangement reached there without substantial modification to punish Iraq for its war crimes, human rights violations, and illegal use of weapons of mass destruction. |
