Subject: New U.S. President

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia wishes to congratulate mr. Ronald Reagan with his victory in the U.S. presidential elections, and with mr. Reagan being inaugurated as the 40th President of the United States of America earlier this morning. Riyadh expresses its desire to further expand the already warm ties with Washington, and further expand the cooperation between our two countries. We wish mr. Reagan the best of luck in his new position and hope that together with Riyadh, Washington will continue to strive towards improving the situation for Muslims around the world.

Press release
July 1981
Subject: Attacks on merchant shipping in Persian Gulf

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia expresses its dissatisfaction and concern over the recent outbreak of military conflict between the states of Iraq and Iran. In the past days this military confrontation has led to the attack of non-hostile merchant oil tankers by Iranian military forces. Riyadh condemns these actions in the harshest of words and will not tolerate the regime of Khomeini to deliberately destabilize the flow of oil from the region to the worlds economic engines. These actions are unacceptable, and we demand that they are immediately ceased. We call upon the international community, and in particular the United States, to dispatch a significant naval force to the area to ensure that these acts will cease immediately.

Libya: The Kingdom condemns "unholy" and irresponsible Libyan actions

Riyadh: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia publicly condemns and expresses it's fury and disenchantment at the policies carried on by Colonel M. Ghadaffi in it's recent unholy war against Chad. The Kingdom urges Libya to end this war, and questions the ability and capacity of the Colonel to remain guiding the once shiny boat that Libya could have become; now only a sinking ship with no direction

Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al Saud: Iran is not a threat to the Middle East; it's a threat to the world

Posted Image

Riyahd - Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has made a press statement regarding the current political situation in the region.

"We find ourselves in one of the most unstable moments in this region. Whilst the Sionist mouvement is a very live threat to the arab world, it is Iran, the major threat to the world. It's capacity to destabilise the region and it's ambition beyond it's borders is a warning that we must take up seriously and be prepared for. The Kingdom is embarking on a major double programme to step up as a regional leader and counter balance Iran's malicious foreign policy.

The Kingdom will modernise the financial infraestructure of the country. We must offer a place for financial institutions to build up the Middle East's financial hub. Lebanon has proven to be an uncertain choice becuase of the sionist threat and the hidden hand of Iran. In order to attract foreign capital investments and become a financial hub, we must be able to protect our borders. We are embarking on a large programme to modernise our Armed Forces, air, land and sea-wise. We will partner with countries that share our interests and our views on Iran to import arms and exchange information relevant to the situation. We will not yield to the Ayatollah's twisted policies.

We will move forward, combining our strenght and ability to structure Tradition, Values and Islam, with Future, Modernisation and Progress."
