Ismat T. Kittani President of the UNGA Distinguished delegates, While conflict is brewing around the world I hope to direct our attention for a short while around a topic that we can all unite around in our mutual humanity - the annual UN pledge year. I come to you with an announcement that this years' focus will be 1981: The United Nations Year for the Disabled. I propose and motion for a vote by acclamation on the following resolution to commemorate this year:
I call for all delegates to speak in favor or against this resolution, or to cast votes AYE or NAY with regards to it: this is a matter of pressing concern for all of humanity, and while your attentions may be focused elsewhere, we all must be united in our common pursuit of one anothers' peace and interests. Thank you, and I yield the floor. |

Ambassador of the Permanent Mission of Greece to the United Nations, Nicolas Katapodis While I firmly believe that if the international community is going to seriously tackle these important social issues than more is needed, the Hellenic Republic votes AYE. Edited by Damo45, May 22 2016, 01:03 PM.

Permanent Representative of the People's Republic of China to the United Nations China votes AYE although we do have concerns regarding whether the 4% quota in article 2 will be able to be met without lowering qualification standards. We trust the United Nations administration will work through any potential issues that might arise concerning that. |
