The United States is currently undertaking the development of an upgrade for the Terrier and Tartar series of ships in its service. We offer participation for all members of NATO in the development phase, or in the later implementation phase. |

Permanent Representative of France to NATO As previously discussed, the French government is extremely interested in participating in this program--assuming we receive the capability to produce the end results within France. We are willing to contribute on the financial and technological development side of this program. Additionally, if it is necessary, we have a vessel currently utilizing the Tartar missile system that could become a test bed vessel. |

There is already an US Navy destroyer used for NTU testing, but we would welcome a French test vessel as well. And, we are fully prepared to share the technologies developed during the NTO program with those nations participating in the development phase. Those nations that participate in the implementation phase will see their ships upgraded, but will not be given other access to the developed technologies. |
