- Statement on State Visit to China and the US
-
The Prime Minister has accepted an invitation by the White House to visit Washington D.C, the Prime Minister and the Deputy Foreign Minister accompanied with a small delegation will attend the talks.
The Prime Minister has also requested a State Visit with China this month, the expected talks are to consist of cultural ties, trade, military relations and security in the Pacific.

- Statement on US and Egyptian Visit
-
The Prime Minister has arrived in Washington D.C in his state visit with President Reagan he will discuss a variety of issues including the Middle East.
The Deputy Prime Minister has also arrived in Qahira along with the Trade and Defense Minister in a meeting with Vice President Mubarak, the Australian delegation is expected to discuss trade and defense ties.
The Attorney General has assumed the Acting Prime Minister until the return of the Prime Minister or Deputy Prime Minister.

The Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade confirms that the Minister for Foreign Affairs Sen. Gareth Evans is currently meeting with the Canadian External Secretary to bolster Australian/Canadian relations.
