The Honorable Paul Keating Prime Minister of Australia and a small delegation consisting of the Deputy Trade Minister & Deputy Defense Minister are welcomed with a State Ceremony at Beijing International Airport by Chairman Xiaoping and the Chinese Foreign Minister before departing for the Zhongnanhai Palace. Chairman of the Central Advisory Commission | Chairman of the Central Military Commission The People's Republic of China, represented by myself and Foreign Minister Hua at the airport today, warmly welcomes Prime Minister Paul Keating and the other members of the Australian delegation to Beijing. On the way to the meeting location at the Zhongnanhai, let us go over the proposed agendas each side wishes to discuss. For China, some of the specific areas include: (a) improving economic treaties and relations with Australia, specifically including (b) Australian investment in China's special economic zones, and (c) the establishment of cultural exchanges between Australian and Chinese university and post-graduate students. |
