Hailemariam Desalegn
Prime Minister, Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia

President Saleh welcome to Addis Ababa and congratulations on your recent accession to the office.
News of the recent negotiations with Sudan Revolutionary Front had been promising towards bringing an end to the troubles that plague your nation but I understand that it was not an acceptable outcome for some.

I would like to ask you where you stand on the matter and whether you feel my country can assist you if appropriate?

Additionally our neighbour down stream has raised heckles not only with condemning Ethiopia's peaceful and measured hydroelectric infrastructures but only coming short of stating that military force could be used against it. It is therefore no surprise that Ethiopia would do whatever is necessary to prevent this, including using the United Nations to prevent this outcome from being a possibility. It is my hope that you will agree that the completion of the Millennium dam is not only vital for both our countries interests, but that Cairo's activities lately have been highly disruptive and bordering on threatening to our local security.

Bakri Hassan Saleh
President, Republic of Sudan

Thank you, for your warm words, kindness and hospitality. I am of the opinion that there can be no negotiations with these rebels. My predecessor, President Omar al-Bashir, allowed the South Sudanese nation to break away. Now, they have rebels of their own, and, from reports I've seen, have been supplying our rebels as well. Furthermore, you have seen how they cause their neighbors problems firsthand.

That was the result of our last negotiations with rebels. We will not make the same mistake twice. A joint military operation in South Kordufan may be enough to force their surrender. They are weak, poorly armed, and have been fighting for their lives for years. I hope that one decisive battle will open the door to peace, and I believe I can count on your support on attacking their headquarters.
