![]() Xi heads to India for a Summit meeting The President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping is travelling to the Republic of India for a Summit meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. While the meeting itself will be held behind closed doors, thus enabling both powers to discuss freely issues of joint interest, as well as topics, which cause some problems in bilateral relations, experts have already pointed out that the symbolic meaning of this Summit cannot be underestimated. Both India and China are among the biggest economies of the world, their role and importance is increasing with every day. Intensified cooperation could allow Beijing and New Delhi to ease some of the regional tensions, as well as provide additional impetus for economic growth. The Summit meeting will be initiated by a meeting of the Chinese President and Indian Prime Minister, but continued by various Government ministers and officials over a longer period of time. No concrete results are anticipated, as stated due to the very open-ended agenda, but improved relations will definitely follow. |

The government's subsidies for electric cars, introduced in 2010, used to be as much as 60,000 yuan ($9,631), but the policy was terminated in 2012.
