Multirole destroyer with strong land attack focus, combined with AAW and some ASW capabilities. Designed to be AAW escort and land attack platform with carrier or amphibious battle groups.

Modified for length as discussed below. Further adjustments has been made to dimensions. They are now similar, to within decimeters, of the KDX-III dimensions, including displacement. Complement increased as per recommendation.

Is this a completely new design, or based on either an existing or a planned design?

It is mainly based on the Horizon class, but is a bit longer, and would have to have another weapons layout than the Horizon class. When I think on it, it might even be too short as stated...It actually needs to be 165 meters long...

The unit cost has been reported to be in the 2.2-2.7 billion range, which has prompted me to consider a potentially cheaper alternative. I would like to see a cost estimate on this one as well. Based on the FREDA/FREMM-ER, it should be cheaper, and draw upon the current FREMM experience.
