An EU-US free trade agreement would mean an increase in GDP by 0.5 percent to the EU economy and 0.4 percent to the U.S. economy, as well as the creation of hundreds of thousands of jobs on both sides of the Atlantic. This is something neither part can afford to disregard. France proposes that we seek immediate contact with the US, and try to bring about a speedy conclusion of these talks. |

![]() Permanent Representative to the EU _____ We are supportive for such an agreement, however there are various important issues that need to be addressed. If Washington is willing to discuss the issues of subsidies and is willing to also open up its national airspace to European airlines, for instance, we are more than happy to discuss these plans in more detail. |
