A fine day over the Cuillins, Isle of Skye.

Very warm in the south. Rain in the NW.

Atlantic weather systems will gradually encroach across NW Britain this week, and becoming quite wet and windy by Friday. In contrast the south will remain fine and become very warm. Probably the warmest couple of days of the year so far to end the week in SE England.

Wednesday will be fine and mostly sunny in the south with temperatures reaching 24 to 25C in light breezes. More cloud further north as an occluding front heads SE to Scotland and NW Ireland. Becoming wet across the north and west of Scotland. Fresh and gusty SW winds too. Just a small risk of an isolated shower in the afternoon over the Midlands moving NE to Lincolnshire.

By Thursday the remains of a weak front will be lying over Wales and the northern Midlands with some drizzle over Wales. To the south it will become very warm again with sunny skies. Temperatures reaching 27C, possibly 28C, in the London area. A bright day for northern England and eastern Ireland while much of Scotland will be quite cloudy with a few light showers in the west.

To end the week on Friday an area of low pressure will swing past northern Scotland ad associated fronts will move southwards across northern and western Britain. Becoming windy in the north and some spells of moderate to locally heavy rain. NW England and later N.Wales may catch over 30m of rainfall. becoming brighter with scattered showers later in the far NW. The SE of England in contrast will have another mostly sunny and very warm day. temperatures again topping 27C.

A cooler weekend ahead with showers in the north and west, but just isolated showers over the south and east after rain clears on Saturday morning.
