Increasingly unsettled

Increasingly unsettled end to the week, especially so across more northern and western areas of the UK
Risk of some strong winds and some heavy rain for parts of Ireland, Scotland and N England during Friday
Still remaining predominantly dry and very warm though across the far south and south-east of England
An unsettled weekend ahead at the moment with sunshine and showers after rain clears and markedly cooler than of late

Wednesday

Increasingly unsettled conditions are forecast to develop across Scotland and Ireland with outbreaks of rain developing, some of which will be heavy especially across western Scotland.

Increasing cloud will develop across parts of N England and here some patchy rain or drizzle is expected to develop overnight.

For many central and southern areas of England the remainder of Wednesday will be dry with bright or sunny spells and it will be very warm.
Thursday and Friday

Thursday provides cooler and showery conditions across parts of Scotland and Ireland, a zone of cloudy and damp conditions across parts of Wales and N England, whilst southern and south-eastern areas of England remain dry and bright and very warm.

Friday, however, will be a very unsettled day nationwide as a region of strong winds and heavy rain moves into Scotland and Ireland during the morning and then steadily progresses south-eastwards across many areas through the day. There is a risk of up to 30mm to 40mm of rainfall across some areas of the north and west and these areas at risk of some large rainfall totals on Friday are highlighted;
Potential severe weather and temperature

The main threat of severe weather to end the week comes from some large rainfall totals in places across northern and western areas and with locally strong winds too.

Temperatures will continue to rise across urban areas of the south and south-east with highs up to 26C to 28C possible by Thursday, whilst it is generally much cooler further north and west. By Friday the introduction of wet and windy conditions will generally see temperatures begin to fall from the north-west and feeling cooler in the wet weather.
