A wet and windy end to the week Friday as low pressure sweeps past northern Scotland bringing with it persistent moderate to heavy rain as a cold front moves southwards across northern and western Britain.

Gusty and fresh south-westerly winds, gusting at 45mph ahead of that cold front.

Turning brighter from the north-west by the early-afternoon in clearance of that front but scattered showers will quickly follow, some of which could be heavy and potentially thundery.

Winds will ease to moderate and veer from the north-west.

Sunny and warm across the south and south-east with highs of 25 to 27C but elsewhere temperatures struggling only reaching the high teens.

A much drier and brighter day across Scotland and Ireland Saturday as that area of low pressure clears to east but frequent showers, associated with another area of Low pressure, will move into Ireland and Scotland, these showers could be heavy and potentially thundery.

Brighter with scattered showers from the south-west to northern parts of England.

A cooler day across the south with highs of 20 to 22C, elsewhere temperatures will typically top the high teens.

A mix of showers and brighter spells Sunday with the heaviest of the showers towards the north-west and west.

Some of these showers, like on Saturday, could become potentially thundery.

Brighter with the odd light shower for the eastern half of the British Isles but overall largely dry.

Highs of 21 to 22C towards the south-east, perhaps 23C in any sunny spells but elsewhere temperatures will range between 17 to 20C.
