UK daily outlook - 9th to 11th July.

Thunderstorm over Sutton Park on Sunday afternoon.

Breezy. Rain later in the east.

Central Europe is in the grip of some very unstable weather just now with low pressure sitting over Germany. There are torrential downpours and storms over the east of Germany to Poland and grey skies and rain over the Netherlands south across western Germany to the Alps. Some big temperature contrast too with hot weather over the south and east of Europe extending across much of Scandinavia. Temperatures even in the far north of Norway and Sweden, beyond the Arctic Circle, close to 30C while in central Germany only 13 to 15C.

The warm temperatures over eastern Europe will try to move westwards to the UK in the next couple of days, but at the same time push a band of rain ahead of a warm front to the east and central Britain.

In the UK we have had our fair share of slow-moving downpours and thunderstorms toda too, with some of the heaviest rain over Hampshire to the east of Wales, parts of the Midlands and NE England.

The weather more stable for Wednesday but quite breezy with moderate to fresh NNW winds, becoming strong near the east coast ahead of a warm front. Fine and mostly sunny for central to western Britain, but becoming cloudy with rain later in the east. Temperatures in the low 20s so feeling quite warm.

During Thursday the warm front will continue to move slowly westwards with rain moving across central and northern England, some of it heavy. Eventually becoming clearer with warm sunshine in the east. Fine and sunny in the far west of the UK, but rain and showers for Ireland. Temperatures in the low 20s.

By Friday it looks like the warm front will be over the west with a warm or very warm day. However, there will be the risk of some hefty showers across parts of the Midlands and central-southern England. Temperatures in the mid 20s, perhaps 26C.

Becoming unsettled from the west during the weekend with showers. Warm at first then fresher and a bit cooler by Sunday.
