Wednesday 09 July Unsettled, increasingly warm and humid An increasingly unsettled end to the week is expected across most areas with rain or showers developing Risk of some heavy and thundery downpours to end the week for some areas Risk of heavy rain into E England and N England through late Wednesday and Thursday Increasingly warm and humid across England and Wales in particular to end the week too An unsettled weekend ahead is currently expected with a mixture of showers and longer spells of rain Wednesday The remainder of Wednesday will provide some prolonged spells of sunshine for many areas of the UK in what is likely to be the best day of the week. Cloud is likely to increase across more eastern areas of England along with a strengthening wind too and some rain is expected by evening. For most of the UK a mainly dry day is expected and it will be pleasantly warm in the sunshine. Thursday and Friday The end of the week is expected to bring increasingly unsettled conditions to many areas. Outbreaks of rain, some of which will be heavy, will move from the East into more central and northern areas of England. Some locally heavy bursts of rain and perhaps over 20mm of rainfall are possible. Meanwhile increasingly cloudy and damp conditions will dominate across Ireland and other far western areas of the British Isles. Into Friday and for most of England and Wales the day is markedly warmer and more humid but this will result in the development of some locally heavy and thundery downpours into the afternoon and evening, especially across eastern and south-eastern areas. For more northern and western areas of the UK a rather cloudy and damp day is to be expected with some outbreaks of rain or showers at times. Potential severe weather and temperature Locally rainfall totals over 20mm are possible with perhaps a focus across the Pennines which may bring some poor driving conditions. The threat of some locally heavy and thundery downpours then develops by Friday with some localised flash flooding possible across east and south-east England in particular. Temperatures on the increase through the end of the week with highs across England and Wales ranging 20-25C generally, but locally up to 28C is possible. Overnight temperatures will be particularly high too, whilst it will be cooler for Scotland and Ireland with highs here ranging between 16-21C.
