Sunny west and wet east

A warm front will move from the North Sea across eastern England on Thursday with a slow-moving band of rain moving across eastern counties ahead of the front. Models vary on how much rainfall there will be, but there may be some quite high totals with steady rain for quite a few hours give 15 to 25mm. Brighter and drier weather following to East Anglia. In contrast the west of Britain and much of Scotland will have a lovely sunny day with temperatures in the low to mid 20s.

By Friday the warm front will still be lying over the east and to central Britain giving further outbreaks of rain. Mostly cloudy over the east and rather humid, but much brighter again with warm sunshine in the west. The risk of some locally heavy showers though over parts of the SW. Ireland will be rather cloudy with some light rain. Temperatures warm everywhere and in the low to mid 20s.

For the weekend, Saturday will be another warm and humid day with partly cloudy skies and spells of sunshine. However, a trough over the east may help kick off some heavy showers in the afternoon with a risk of thunder. There could be 20mm in East Anglia. Temperatures in the mid 20s in the south and east.

Turning fresher and a little cooler over the north and west during Sunday with some morning rain and showers followed by a bright afternoon. Eastern England and perhaps the Midlands may see some heavy showers with a thunder risk. Again, East Anglia may see 10 to 20mm from the downpours. Temperatures in the low 20s in the south and high teens in the west.
