Shower over the Clent Hills

Warm and muggy

Some big contrasts in the weather across the UK today with a slow-moving warm front lying over East Lincolnshire and Yorkshire down to Essex and London. In the rain temperatures only 13 to 14C. Just to the west though much of the rest of the UK has been warm and sunny with temperatures peaking at 25C.

The warm front will weaken on Friday so morning rain in the SE will gradually die out but may stay quite cloudy. More warm sunshine further west and north with temperatures again approaching 25C in a few spots.

Saturday will remain warm and quite humid with temperatures 26C in the east. Showers developing though in the afternoon. To the west low pressure and associated fronts will move over Ireland and then Scotland. Rain moving eastwards in the afternoon and evening.

Overnight rain should clear the east and SE in the morning on Sunday to leave a much fresher feel to the day with cloud and sunny spells. Just a few isolated light showers. Becoming clear in the evening. Temperatures 22 to 23C in the east and 18 to 19C in the north and west.

Next week it may well warm up again with a plume of warmth reaching the south by Wednesday. Temperatures back up to the high 20s and a chance of 30C by Wednesday and Thursday in the south. However, it does look like becoming showery with some thunderstorms later next week, and temperatures then dropping back again.
