GAV'S FLASH! Mainly hot and dry weather to last into August? Good evening, The latest 12z run from the ECMWF has just been released and the model keep it very warm, if not hot, with high pressure dominating the weather right out to day ten. Here is the day ten chart for Wednesday 30th July showing a strong area of high pressure sitting right over the top of the UK at 1025mbrs. ![]() From that position we can project that even out to Friday 1st August high pressure would almost certainly still be influencing the weather conditions across the country, with mainly dry, sunny and hot weather extending out into the new month. The GEFS ensembles show that temperatures are staying well above average until towards the end of the month (the individual ensemble lines are all grouped above the red line, which indicated the 30 years temperature average). ![]() As we get through to around 29th/30th July we do see some scatter appearing within the ensembles, just showing that a few members want to turn it a little cooler around month end, however, the bulk of the ensemble suite keeps it warmer than average even out to the start of August. So, at this stage there's not real sign of a change to cooler, more unsettled conditions. It seem's the very warm summer of 2014 is set to carry on, perhaps even into August. If we can keep the hot and fine weather going into another month Summer 2014 may be able to achieve "epic" status. Interesting time's await! As ever GavsWeatherVids will keep you updated.
