Three Dead After POSH Mogami Semi-Submersible Sinks BY ROB ALMEIDA ON JULY 21, 2014 ![]() POSH Mogami, image: POSH Singapore’s Maritime Port Authority (MPA) announced this weekend the 30,500 dwt semi-submersible barge POSH Mogami, owned by PACC Offshore Services Holdings Ltd. (POSH), sank on Friday, 18 July, leaving three dead. The incident occurred two nautical miles northeast of Sekupang, Batam. The MPA notes there were nine persons on board the barge when the incident happened. It was reported that the semi-submersible barge was carrying out submerging trials at the time of the incident. Indonesian authorities have since rescued 6 persons (2 Singaporeans, 1 Malaysian, 1 Dutch, 1 Filipino, 1 Indonesian) and recovered 3 bodies (1 Singaporean, 1 Chinese, 1 Myanmar national). “As the Flag Administration of POSH Mogami, MPA is investigating the cause of the incident with the relevant authorities,” the MPA noted in a released statement. The barge was delivered in 2013 from COSCO (Zhoushan) Shipyard Co., Ltd. Source...

Semi-submersible barge Posh Mogami sinking update July 22, 2014 MPA Singapore published update on semi-submersible barge sinking: Singapore-registered barge POSH MOGAMI sank 2 nautical miles northeast of Sekupang, Batam, on Friday (18 July) night. There were nine persons on board the barge when the incident happened. It was reported that the semi-submersible barge was carrying out submerging trials at the time of the incident. Indonesian authorities have since rescued 6 persons (2 Singaporeans, 1 Malaysian, 1 Dutch, 1 Filipino, 1 Indonesian) and recovered 3 bodies (1 Singaporean, 1 Chinese, 1 Myanmar national). Remarks: Mr. Kees De Ru sent tug details, which is, most probably, tug Ocean Unison. Tug Ocean Unison, IMO 9586538, gt 495, built 2010, flag Singapore, owner Posh Semco Pte, LTD, Singapore. Sekupang Batam means accident took place in Singapore Strait, not in Riau Islands area. Source...
