Swanage Beach.

Saturday marks a change in the weather that we have been experiencing recently. High pressure will begin retreating to the east, allowing an area of low pressure to move in from the northwest.

There will be some rather heavy and potentially thundery showers across the central belt of Scotland with rain to follow.

There will be plenty of sunny spells around elsewhere, although high-level cloud may make the sunshine hazy at times and it will be staying warm for most although a fresher day for Ireland.

The cold front will push east across the UK overnight on Saturday into Sunday, lingering across parts of East Anglia and Kent throughout the day.

Further rain is expected to move in across the northwest during the day, slowly sinking south, although it will be staying bright and sunny for much of the Midlands and southern counties.

It will be noticeably cooler than as of late, however still a warm day for many central and southern counties.

The low pressure will gradually weaken on Monday with rain turning more showery across southern counties.

Some of these showers have the potential to turn heavy and thundery during the afternoon.

Elsewhere, it is expected to stay largely dry and bright, although a scattering of light showers across the north of England may be possible.
