Pre-empting the winter headlines Get ready for the onslaught By Simon Keeling in Borth, Ceredigion 14:00hrs 28/07/2014 It's heading to the time of year when our favourite "newspapers" will be trawling around for weather related stories. So in anticipation, here's a weather story for them to rip and read! AFTER THE HEATWAVE, HERE COMES SNOW & ICE Forecasters today warned of a treacherous combination of snow and ice hitting the UK this winter. As overnight temperatures plummet to -15C roads could become "killing fields" for drivers travelling too fast. Expert Ivor Notaclue said, "It could be like hell (only cold) for motorists. They should take steps now to avoid being caught out by the onslaught which is expected to begin anytime from mid November and could last until the end of February". But it is not only snow and ice which could give a winter we will never forget, there is a warning of gales and heavy rain too. "Rain and wind could wreak havoc anywhere from John O'Groats to Lands End", warned Ivor who has a certificate in Mixed Haircare, "after the recent heatwave it is certainly going to be a shock to all when temperatures plummet". He continued, "People will die this winter and I am warning the elderly and vulnerable to take extra care. The NHS are braced for an increase in admissions due to cold weather when compared to now. 1963 will seem like 51 years ago when this winer hits! Source ............ http://www.weatherweb.net/ |
