Wednesday 30 July Increasingly unsettled A progression towards increasingly unsettled conditions are expected through the rest of the week Risk of some heavy rain or showers across more northern and western areas at times Generally remaining driest, brightest and warmest across the south and south-east of England Temperatures near to average though cooler in association with any persistent rain A particularly unsettled weekend is expected with a risk of some widespread heavy rain or showers for a time. Wednesday Scattered showers or spells of showery rain are expected across more northern and western areas of the UK through the remainder of Wednesday any showers being more scattered by evening. For central and southern areas of England and Wales a mainly dry day is expected with some bright or sunny spells and feeling warm. Thursday Low pressure and weather fronts will become increasingly influential across the North West of the UK. As a result a mostly cloudy day is expected with showers or perhaps longer spells of rain, some of which may be heavy. Further south across central and southern areas of England further bright or sunny spells are expected, but a scattering of afternoon showers are possible and these may be locally heavy. Friday A rather cloudy day with a risk of showers and eventually longer spells of rain, but the day may well start predominantly dry across south-east areas of England in particular. As the day progress, however, emphasis is on the risk of some particularly heavy and persistent rain developing across SW England and then moving northwards into Wales and other areas of England during the course of Friday evening and into the overnight period. Ahead of this a scattering of heavy and perhaps thundery showers may develop late in the day across southern and south-eastern areas of England. Potential severe weather and temperature The risk of severe weather generally increases towards the end of the week, particularly later on Friday as more persistent and often heavy rain develops from the south-west. Temperatures through the rest of the week will be near to average overall with highs ranging between 18C and 22C, but more southern and south-eastern areas of England may see temperatures approach 25C at times. Equally, temperatures may struggle to just 16C or 17C across more northern and western areas beneath any persistent rain or showers later in the week. Source ..............Matt Hugo, Meteorologist.
