Bertha knocking on the door But much uncertainty over where the door will be Ex-Hurricane Bertha is forecast to make her way across the Atlantic at the end of this week and into next weekend, presenting forecasters with a familiar problem; we can be confident the ex-hurricane will be in the east Atlantic but where, how deep and when? Expect many revisions to forecasts over the coming week as models struggle to place Bertha, partly because of the resolution of the medium range models, partly because of the relatively small scale nature of Bertha and partly because of the difficulty models will have in interacting Bertha with upper features which will broaden the system. So for now it is a case of sitting back, watching the various model runs arrive and drawing a conclusion based on these. As of this morning Bertha is likely to be west of Ireland next Monday (11th), gales and heavy rain are likely to be widespread, especially in the west. Rough seas are likely over western and southern coasts too. However, things may well change, we'll keep you informed here at Weatherweb.net, but for now it might be wise to get some early rough weather plans in place. ![]() Source ............... http://www.weatherweb.net/ |
