Is Bertha going to be a Bust? Remember its an 'ex' hurricane There's going to be lots of talk in TV weather forecasts, and across the iterate about ex-hurricane Bertha this weekend. Remember though, this is an ex-hurricane ... it's the 'ex' but that's really important! I smell all the signs of a Fish 1987 moment here, but in reverse, The Hurricane That never Happened'? What will happen is that the moisture left behind by Bertha will interact with an existing trough in the atmosphere above our heads. This then deepens the original low (we call it the 'parent') underneath the trough, adding energy and moisture. That in turn deepens the parent low and will bring about a windier week than we have seen for some time next week. gales will be widespread, especially in the west and south from Sunday. But forget images of leaves being shredded from trees and reporters struggling to stand in the wind...that just ain't gonna happen. Having said that, keep your eye on the tides next week because with those strong winds, high tides and rough seas, the sea will need treating with extra caution! ![]() Source ........................ http://www.weatherweb.net/ |
