UK daily outlook - 15th to 17th August.

A drier day for many on Friday as a ridge of high pressure moves in from the west.

A look back at the sea front at Burnham in Somerset with waves created by ex-hurricane Bertha.

However, it will be mostly cloud around the periphery of the high with the best of the the sunny spells through central and southern parts. A scattering of showers will develop through the morning and during the afternoon, however these should be less potent than those on Thursday. Light north to north-westerly winds with top temperatures of 18 to 22C.

An area of low pressure will sweep past the north Saturday, giving cloud and showery rain towards the north and north-west. Windy too with gusts up to 40mph. Slacker winds elsewhere but mostly cloudy and dry. Temperatures ranging between 15C across the far north and 23C in the south-east.

Feeling cooler on Sunday as the winds veer from the north and remain fresh. Low pressure, situated over the north Sea, and associated occluded front will bring cloud and spells of heavier rain across north Scotland. Scattered showers across western parts in correspondence to a passing surface-trough but drier through central and southern parts with mainly cloudy skies. Temperatures topping 20C in the south but 14 to 17C further north.
