Three Rescued After Supply Vessel and Shrimp Boat Collide BY MIKE SCHULER ON AUGUST 25, 2014 ![]() Photo (c) MarineTraffic.com/capjim Three crewmembers of a shrimp boat were forced to abandon ship into a life raft following a collision with a supply vessel Sunday night in the Gulf of Mexico. The U.S. Coast Guard said it received a mayday call at 10:40 p.m. from a 74-foot shrimping vessel reporting a collision with the 150-foot supply vessel Gloria May while approximately 18 miles south of of Pascagoula, Mississippi. All three crew on board the shrimper were forced into their life raft and were subsequently picked up by the Gloria May. The shrimping vessel is said to have sustained significant damage in the collision and has approximately 10,000 gallons of diesel and 200 gallons of oil on board. The Gloria May reported only minimal damage, the Coast Guard said. No injuries have been reported from either vessel. “The cause of the collision has yet to be determined, however, the Coast Guard will begin an immediate investigation,” said Lt. j.g. Bradley Parker. The collision is under investigation by the Coast Guard. The U.S.-flagged, DP1 Gloria May is owned by Gulf Resource Management, Inc., which is headquartered in New Iberia, Louisiana. Source:
