Wednesday 08 October.

Cool and showery

Further heavy and at times, thundery showers continuing across parts of the UK to end the week
Risk of longer spells of rain too, especially across southern and western areas of the UK
Temporarily windy across southern and western areas later Wednesday and into Thursday with coastal gales and locally high seas as well
Continued risk of chilly nights with rural frost, especially in the north
Cool and showery weekend currently expected but with more in the way of drier and brighter conditions developing

Wednesday

Unsettled across many areas throughout the remainder of Wednesday with some heavy and perhaps thundery showers merging to give longer spells of rain across many areas of England, Wales and Ireland in particular. Longer spells of rain are expected across central and northern Scotland, whilst across S Scotland drier and brighter conditions are to be expected. The heavy showers and longer spells of rain will create some particularly poor driving conditions at times.
Thursday and Friday

Low pressure will remain the dominant feature of the weather across all areas of the UK to end the week. As a result a continued mixture of sunshine and showers is expected nationwide with some of the showers heavy and perhaps merging to give longer spells of rain in places. Equally there will be some drier and brighter intervals at times. By night further chilly conditions are possible where skies clear with perhaps some mist, fog and rural frost at times.
Early weekend outlook

A cool and showery weekend is expected at the moment as low pressure dominates. However, as the weekend progress the showers are likely to become generally lighter and more scattered with some lengthy drier and brighter intervals developing in places by Sunday. As winds become light and variable then mist and fog patches may well become more of an issue by night and there’ll be an on-going risk of some rural frost too.
Severe Weather and Temperatures

Threat of severe weather is restricted to the remainder of Wednesday and into Thursday overall as heavy and perhaps thundery showers, along with longer spells of rain bring some particularly poor driving and travelling conditions at times. The overall risk of severe weather then decreases into the weekend, but local mist and fog patches may be an issue.

Temperatures a little higher than the first half of the week with maximum temperatures, generally, ranging between 13°C and 17°C though just 11°C or 12°C across more northern and western areas where showers are most frequent. It is expected to be chilly by night with rural frost, but temperatures generally staying above freezing for most areas.
