UK daily outlook - 10 to 12 October

By Leon Brown, Chief Meteorologist

Winds easing and showers less widespread

The area of low pressure over north west Europe will slowly fill over the next couple of days so showers will be less widespread and the winds will ease down. Fog is the main concern by Sunday morning. Latest forecasts do bring more wet weather northwards again by Sunday night and Monday, so the unsettled theme will continue next week.

We'll see a fine and quite sunny start for central and eastern England on Friday, but fog patches in Scotland and the north of Ireland. There will be scattered showers around western and southern coasts with a few heavy showers for Wales and north west England by midday, just a few isolated showers reaching the Midlands and east. Northern Scotland will also escape dry. Temperatures should reach up to 18C in the sunshine in the south, and 14C in the north.

Saturday will start quite foggy in Scotland and Ireland, this slowly lifting to a bright and dry day. More showers are expected in the south, especially over Wales moving to northern England, and also over the south east. There will be light winds with temperatures near the seasonal norm.

Fog may be more widespread across much of the UK on Sunday morning with some dense patches. The fog will slowly lift to low cloud and then sunny spells. Much of the UK will be dry, just a few isolated showers in north west Scotland. However, rain developing over France does look like it will spread north to south east England overnight.
