Wednesday 15 October, Increasingly wet and windy, but mild Wet and at times windy weather spreading north and east throughout the rest of the week Risk of some heavy rain at times, especially across more western areas of the UK Becoming increasingly mild or very mild to end the week though Unsettled weather continuing into the coming weekend and turning cooler after a mild start Wednesday Low pressure situated to the west of the UK will dominate the weather bringing a spell of wet and windy weather. It will take time for the rain to head northwards and it won’t reach N England until evening and as a result for the northern half of the UK most of the day will be dry with some bright or sunny spells, especially in Scotland. Thursday Across Scotland, Ireland, N England and Wales Thursday will be mostly cloudy with a risk of rain or showers at times, some of which could be heavy, especially across Ireland. For central and southern areas of England a drier day is expected with some bright or sunny spells around scattered showers. It will begin to feel milder than compared with earlier in the week, especially across England and Wales. Friday After a mainly dry start to the day on Friday increasingly wet and windy weather will develop across many western and south-western areas of the UK, spreading northwards during the afternoon. Some heavy rain is possible, especially across western areas and it will be windy with a strong or locally near gale force south or south-westerly wind developing. Early weekend outlook An unsettled weekend with rain or showers at times, especially across the north and west but many areas seeing some precipitation at times. It will be very mild temporarily on Saturday, however a cooling trend will develop from the west during Sunday. Severe Weather and Temperatures Further heavy rain or showers at times in the coming days will lead to further large rainfall totals in places. As a result further difficult driving conditions are possible at times due to surface water and some localized flooding may occur. The development of strong winds through the rest of the week and into the weekend will also be an additional hazard for high sided vehicles in particular. Temperatures on the rise through the rest of the week with highs ranging between 12°C and 16°C across Scotland, Ireland and N England and between 14°C and 18°C across central and southern areas of England and Wales.
