UK daily outlook - 16 to 18 October By Michael de Villiers, Senior Meteorologist ![]() On Thursday the occluded front and associated rain patches will gradually clear the north. Over the rest of the UK it will be a mixture of bright, sunny spells and isolated rain showers. Showers will become more frequent across south west England, western Wales and Northern Ireland in association with another occluded front. Falls will be heavy at times and potentially thundery. These will move across the rest of England and Wales through the evening and overnight. It will be windy in the south west and along the south coasts with fresh to strong and gusty south westerly winds easing later. Maximum temperatures will be a little above the average for the time of the year in the south and around normal in the north. ![]() Overnight rain will clear to the east, leaving the UK predominantly dry and bright on Friday with sunny spells, although occasional rain showers can be expected along west facing coasts. Thicker cloud and warm front rain will move across Ireland to south west England and south west Wales later, and spread to western Scotland and the Midlands during the evening. Overnight a cold front will bring widespread rain across the UK. Fresh to strong and gusty southerly winds, reaching near gale at times, will spread from the south west Ireland coast in the afternoon to the south west coasts of England and Wales during the evening, and eastward through the English Channel. The southerly wind will result in above normal maximum temperatures across the UK. ![]() On Saturday the cold front will move away to the east taking potentially heavy rain with it, but lingering across the south east. Following the front there will be a mixture of sunny spells and rain showers that will be heavy and thundery at times. Most of the precipitation will be in the west. It will still be windy with fresh and gusty south westerly winds that will be strong across western coasts and hills. Temperatures will remain above average in the air from the warmer south, although feeling chilly in the wind. Source .... .... http://uk.weather.com/ |
