Gonzalo to bring wind and rain

Hurricane Gonzalo has already made an impression in the Atlantic and its remnants are set to impact the UK in the coming days. Most of the country will see some wet weather as well as some strong gusts - up to 70mph in parts.

The Weather Channel's chief meteorologist, Leon Brown, warned of "strong and gusty winds" but added that the conditions would be nothing like the autumn and winter storms the UK experienced in 2013.

"The gustiness of the winds will be the main factor, making difficult driving conditions, and may bring down some big branches from trees," he said. "Rough seas so will disrupt ferries."

Once the wind and rain has passed, it is likely to feel cooler initially before mild temperatures return.
