Unsettled week ahead

Low pressure set to bring showers and spells of rain at times through the week
Risk of a spell of very wet and very windy weather late Monday and into Tuesday
Heaviest and most frequent rain this week expected across Scotland, Ireland and N England
Drier and brighter conditions expected across southern areas of the UK at times
Temperatures, overall, near to average but with some fluctuations through the week

Monday

Showery conditions expected across Scotland, Ireland, N England and Wales with some longer spells of rain possible as the showers merge. Further south it is expected to be mainly dry with bright or sunny spells, especially across SE England. Later today and overnight increasingly wet and windy weather will move into the UK off the Atlantic bringing a rather inclement spell of weather.
Tuesday

An inclement start to the day is expected as outbreaks of heavy rain and showers quickly sweep south and east across many areas and this will be combined with a strong or gale force NW’ly wind. The combination of the heavy rain, strong winds may well create some difficult driving conditions and some local travel disruption is possible. Once the more persistent rain has cleared SE England during the morning then the majority of the day will be dominated by a chilly NW’ly wind bringing blustery showers
Wednesday

For many southern areas of the UK a mainly dry day is expected with bright or sunny spells despite some cloud at times. Across Scotland, Ireland and N England it is expected to become increasingly cloudy through the day with outbreaks of rain and drizzle, especially so across Scotland where a fresh or strong SW’ly wind is expected.
Thursday and Friday

Despite some uncertainty the rather unsettled spell of weather is expected to continue to end the week. Scotland, Ireland and N England are likely to maintain a risk of showers or longer spells of rain at times, whilst southern areas experience drier and brighter weather, but even here some rain or showers are possible, particularly so during Friday.
Temperatures and severe weather

Temperatures will fluctuate somewhat this week, but overall are likely to be near to average with maximum temperatures across Scotland, Ireland and N England ranging between 11°C and 14°C and across central and

Main risk of severe weather this week is overnight on Monday and into Tuesday due to a combination of very strong winds and heavy rain timing with the Tuesday morning rush hour period with some travel disruption possible.
