UK daily outlook - 22 to 24 October By Michael de Villiers, Senior Meteorologist ![]() Autumn in London's Green Park. Wednesday will start dry, bright and quite chilly, although a warm front will quickly move in from the west as the day progresses to bring increasing cloud. Southern Britain should remain dry with some hazy sunshine, but some light rain and drizzle will soon cross Ireland to north west England, north west Wales and western Scotland. Over the latter the rain will become heavier and more persistent with 10-15mm falling by the end of the day over the western Highlands. The westerly winds will be moderate and back to the south west over northern Britain, while temperatures should climb to between 12 and 13C in most areas, and 14C in the south west. ![]() On Thursday a warm sector will result in drizzle, light rain and low cloud affecting southern and western coasts, with the low cloud giving foggy conditions over western hills and mountains. Parts of both eastern Britain and Ireland will be somewhat drier and brighter, perhaps with some hazy sunshine at times. The best of the sunny breaks are most likely to the east of the Pennines in north east England, and also in eastern Scotland. Later on, there will be more persistent rain associated with the following cold front spreading to north west Scotland. The south west winds will be moderate generally, but fresh over western Scotland. Temperatures will be mild, reaching 14 to 16C across England and Wales, and 12 to 13C over northern and western Scotland. ![]() A cold front will move gradually south east on Friday. It will turn fresher and colder over Ireland and Scotland with sunshine and scattered showers. The cold front will give rain to northern England and Wales with a mostly cloudy day for central and southern England and some drizzle over southern coasts. There will be fresh south westerly winds over northern Scotland later, otherwise light south westerly winds. Temperatures 15 to 17C over central and southern Britain, perhaps 18C in the south east. A colder 8 to 12C over Scotland. ![]() Source .............. http://uk.weather.com/ |
