UK daily outlook - 24 to 26 October By Kerry Mason, Meteorologist A cold front will continue to move south east across Wales and the Midlands on Friday, reaching the south east by the evening. Much of the day will stay cloudy over central and southern England and Wales with some light and patchy rain, and some moderate bursts of rain on the cold front. There will be clearer weather over northern England and eastern Scotland feeding down to central areas by the evening, and heavy and frequent showers spreading to western Scotland with fresh south westerly winds. There will be lighter winds over central Britain and moderate to fresh south westerly winds near Channel coasts. Temperatures will be 14 to 16C over central and southern Britain; a colder 10 to 12C over northern Britain. ![]() The cold front should clear from the south east of England overnight into Saturday, leaving a clearer dry day with sunny spells across much of England and Wales in a gentle west-south westerly breeze. A few isolated light showers are forecast over the west of Wales and north west England. To the north there will be strong to gale force south westerly winds which will bring quite a few heavy rain showers to western Scotland, but to the east of the mountains in eastern Scotland much of the day will be dry with sunny spells. Temperatures will be 14 to 16C over central and southern Britain and a colder 10 to 12C over Scotland. ![]() A similar picture on Sunday too. Low pressure close to the north of the UK and high pressure to the south will give some particularly windy conditions - especially in Scotland, where there will be gale force south westerly winds and gusts of 50 to 60mph. Strong and gusty winds will also extend down to northern England and Ireland. Some heavy rain and showers will spread across Scotland and the north of Ireland, with rain reaching North West England later in the day. Isolated showers are expected over west Wales but the Midlands, southern and eastern England will stay dry and bright with sunny spells. There will be moderate south westerly winds over the south. Temperatures will still be mild in the south at 15 to 17C but feeling colder in the north and nearer 8 to 12C in Scotland. ![]() Source ..................... http://uk.weather.com/ |
