Feeling chilly by Monday Enjoy the Halloween warmth! By Garry Nicholson in Darley Dale, Derbys 10:20hrs 31/10/2014 Make the most of today’s warm temperatures because next week will be much cooler for all. Temperatures in the Midlands and south of England will be near 19 or 20C today, but by Monday highs will be nearer 12C, and struggling to get above 8 or 9C in northern England and Scotland. Belts of rain will move from west to east this weekend, introducing a change to a westerly air mass, compared to the current warm southerly flow. Cooler air from the north-west will gradually spread to all areas, and showers will be frequent during Monday, particularly in the north, west and south, merging into longer periods of rain. Showers turning wintry over the Scottish mountains, and perhaps also the higher Fells in northern England. Central and eastern England are expected to be brighter overall. It remains cool for Tuesday and midweek. Showers easing by Wednesday, but clearer skies overall bring the risk of overnight frost, particularly in the north. Time to dig out the winter coat!
