By Michael de Villiers, Senior Meteorologist

The cold front rain will clear to the east during by early Saturday afternoon, weakening as it does so, with south east England escaping largely dry. This will leave a mostly dry and sunny afternoon. In the meantime, an occluded front system will approach from the Atlantic bringing further rain and showers across the west with fresh to strong south westerly winds and possible gusts over 40-50mph for exposed western coastal areas. It will turn cooler, with temperatures around 11 to 13C across the north and west and 14 to 17C for central and southern areas, locally 18C across the south-east of England.

Another cold front will bring a band of rain south eastwards overnight into early Sunday, which will clear the south east England through the day on Sunday. It will be mostly dry with sunny weather following across the British Isles, although still a windy day with scattered rain showers along the west coasts. More frequent rain, or showers, occasionally heavy, are expected for the west of Ireland and western Scotland with fresh to strong and gusty winds. It'll be a cooler day than Saturday.

There will be persistent rain across the extreme south eastern part of England on Monday. Elsewhere there will be a mixture of bright or sunny weather and isolated rain showers in fresh westerly to south-westerly winds, the showers will be more scattered along western coasts. Once again precipitation will be more widespread across Ireland. Temperatures will be back to around normal between 8-11C across the north and west and 10-13C across central and southern areas and colder than Sunday, with air originating in the north curving to a westerly to south westerly wind across the British Isles.
