A dry week ahead
Feeling warmer too

By Garry Nicholson in Darley Dale, Derbys 16:00hrs 04/04/2015
Temperature: 12C Weather: Mostly cloudy

High pressure building across the British Isles sets the scene for dry and settled conditions during the week ahead. Temperatures will improve too, and it will feel pleasantly warm in sunshine and light winds, with daytime highs reaching 14 to 16C for many.

Where skies stay clear, temperatures overnight will drop into the low single figures Celsius, which may give a slight frost in rural areas, but overall temperatures should remain above freezing.

Fog patches may be an issue in low lying areas on some mornings this week, although the strengthening April sunshine should disperse these fairly quickly.

Banks of cloud will drift around the area of high pressure, mostly coming in off the North Sea, pegging temperatures back where there is a breeze off the sea.

Later in the week, the high is forecast to move slowly eastwards, allowing a south-easterly airflow to develop. This may produce very hazy skies, as a slack synoptic set-up mixes with British and European pollution, turning the sunshine weaker and reducing visibility.

Whilst dry weather may well stay with us for next weekend, this sets the scene for Atlantic fronts and troughs to re-emerge by the week starting the 13th April, becoming gradually more changeable.
