WEEKEND WEATHER.

Friday, March 27, 2015, 12:37 GMT -
Much cooler and windier than recent days with the risk of showers

After a largely fine, dry and rather warm few days across the UK, the weather is set to turn just in time for the weekend.

By Saturday, a cooler, fresher westerly wind will be in place across the UK with some places seeing high temperatures drop by as much as 10C from Friday.

There will be some showers around through the weekend, these wintry on the high ground, but it won’t be a total washout with some sunshine to be had at times too.

Saturday

A cold front will sweep across the UK through Saturday morning bringing a spell of showery rain.

Ahead of this front, it will be cloudy, misty and mild start to the day for much of England and Wales.

The cloud and rain will clear south-eastwards by the early afternoon leaving it cool and breezy across the UK.

Showers will feed into north-western areas of the UK, some heavy at times and wintry on the Scottish hills, but much of England and Wales should be dry and bright.

A much cooler day with highs generally of 9-12C and feeling particularly cold across Scotland and Northern Ireland with a strong south-westerly wind.

Sunday

A cool start to the day, but it should be a largely fine and sunny start for much of southern, central and eastern England.

There will continue to be a scattering of showers elsewhere, these most frequent across Northern Ireland and western Scotland with some over the hills.

Through Sunday afternoon, a more organised area of cloud and showery rain is expected to spread in from the west.

There is some uncertainty in where exactly the rain will be, but it is currently forecast to push eastwards across Wales, the Midlands and East Anglia.

It may stay dry across the far south of England and the showers across northern areas of the UK should become lighter and less frequent.

Another cool and breezy day with highs of 11-14C in the south and 7-10C further north.
Next week

There are promising signs that high pressure will return into next week with largely dry and settled conditions prevailing.

North-western areas may see cloudier and windier conditions from time to time with sporadic outbreaks of rain.

Temperatures should also be on the rise again, perhaps reaching the high teens by the middle of the week.

Whatever the weather, have a great weekend.
