Month Ahead
Mixed start, better middle, wet end in south

By Simon Keeling in Wombourne, Staffs 12:00hrs 30/04/2015

High pressure during the first part of the forecast brings dry weather for many, although risk of rain in the south.
During the final third of March conditions are likely to be turning more unsettled, especially in the north, but always a tendency towards drier weather in the far south.
Early April should see a broader improvement, but still some rain at times.

*2/5/15 - 8/5/15*
An unsettled weekend with low pressure bringing periods of rain, especially to the north and west. Turning more showery into the new week, although pressure building from mid week onwards through more southern areas, leaning towards drier weather in much of England and Wales with lighter rain in Scotland. Less cold than recently.

*9/5/15 - 15/5/15*
Outbreaks of rain tending to be through western Ireland and western Scotland at the beginning of the week. Drier in more southern and eastern areas with higher pressure here. That pressure continues to build through the week, turning milder with the chance of some warm, dry and sunny weather later.

*16/5/15 - 22/5/15*
Pressure tending to stay high through much of the country this week, slowly falling to the south. So starting fine and dry with plenty of sunshine, but some thundery showers or outbreaks of rain drifting into southern England as the week progresses. Easterly winds tending to increase and feeling cooler later.

*23/5/15 - 31/5/15
Indications are that high pressure is likely to be staying to the north of the country through this week, although lower pressure to the south will be making more of an impact. There is the risk of bands of rain affecting the southern half of England and Wales, humid here too. The rain could be heavy and thundery. Tending to stay dry in the north of England and Scotland, the best sunshine in the west.
